
In the Bible the stories of Abraham and his son Isaac, tell us a rich story of their relationship and obedience to God. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son in obedience to God. God stopped him at he last moment and Abraham then sacrificed a ram caught in a nearby bush. God supplied the sacrifice.
Jesus acted in complete obedience to his father and became the sacrificial lamb, freely giving up his life for us. God’s son became the sacrifice.

- Isaac carried the wood for his own sacrifice up the mountain.
- Jesus carried his own wooden cross to Calvary.
- Isaac was the only son of Abraham and Sarah. It was a miraculous conception and birth as Sarah was very old.
- Jesus is God’s only son and it was also a miraculous conception and birth. Mary was a virgin.
- Abraham took Isaac up Mount Mariah for the sacrifice.
- Jesus was crucified on Calvary just outside of Jerusalem. Is is thought to be the same mountain
- Isaac was the intended and willing sacrifice, but was replaced by a ram. Abraham acted in complete obedience to God.
