The Typology of the Bible

The Bible tells us about God’s plan. It contains the history of our world from creation to the first people, Adam and Eve, the Fall and then the story of the chosen people of God.

Eventually, we see the coming of the promised Saviour, Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Church and his sacraments.

*Note – Certain figures in the Bible pre-figure Christ or Mary. Mary always points to her son, Jesus. Sacraments are often for-shadowed by people or events in the Old Testament.

The Typology of the Bible points to a deeper meaning beyond the stories. There are many Types in the Bible. In this blog we will focus on a few key ones.

And there’s more..

The Golden Thread

The concept of The Golden Thread was attributed to St Augustine. It means the thread that holds the precious jewels together over time. In a sense it winds its way through history connecting the events from ancient times through to Jesus Christ and the church today.

The Golden thread – St Augustine

God reveals himself through Scripture and Tradition.

Sometimes reading the Bible can be a bit confusing, with so many stories and styles involved. The Church magisterium helps us to make sense of this through its careful and ongoing reflection on the interpretation of the Bible. and how it relates to our lives and practice. What we believe, has its foundations in Scripture and Tradition

Let’s begin our exploration of Typology

It all begins with……..

“In the beginning God Created the heavens and the earth….”

“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”

An the story continues from there..
